Kara-Ann Pedrini was born May 8, 1986 to Dino and Julie Pedrini. She graduated from Shelton High School in 2004. Kara has a beautiful singing voice.
Kara-Ann is currently attending South Puget Sound Community College, where she is on the honor roll. She will graduate with an Associate of Arts degree in the spring of 2007, and then transfer to Central Washington University to major in elementary education and minor in disabilities, with plans to become an elementary teacher.
Kara lettered in cheerleading for 3 years and was awarded American Cheerleader in 2004. She currently still holds a school record in weight lifting for an endurance exercise. She's won many essay contests, including the Fatherhood Essay. Kara-Ann has been awarded $2,000 in scholarships through the Miss America Organization and $500 with the Dosie Dux Organization. In 2005 she was 1st runner up to Miss Mason County, and in 2006 earned the title of Miss Mason County.
Kara enjoys being a role model to youth by reading stories to children in school settings, working with the big buddies program, and organizing summer activities for youth through summer camps. In high school she was the captain of the cheerleading squad and participated in the leadership program which planned assemblies, made inspirational signs for school activities, and cleaned up the campus.
Kara says she's the kind of girl who likes to wear high heels and dress up every day, but that she also has a side you would not imagine. In the summer at her cabin she finds it irresistible to jump off 25 ft rocks, swing from rope swings, and fly off jet skis into the freezing cold mountain snow water. She says she loves the adrenalin rush.
She loves her job as the assistant manager and photographer at a local portrait studio. She photographs children, families, graduations, weddings and any special events. Kara says she loves to create priceless memories for all occasions and for people of all ages.
As Miss Thurston County, Kara-Ann's platform is "Preventing Drinking and Driving Through Education". She plans to continue working with the DUI Traffic Safety Task Force, the Washington State Liquor Control Board, and the Department of Health to educate Thurston County about the dangers of drinking and driving. Her focus will be on youth because that is where education is needed the most.
Kara says, "When it comes time to pass down my Miss Thurston County crown I will have set a precedence that Miss Thurston County is not just about beauty and talent. With my crown held high I will show Thurston County that young women can make a difference one beautiful mind at a time."
