Who will be the next Miss Thurston County?
We are excited that you would like to become Miss Thurston County! As an official preliminary to Miss America, the Miss Thurston County Scholarship Program allows young women in our community opportunities to succeed through education and public service.
Candidate Information for 2024
The Miss Thurston County Scholarship Program is open to young women of Thurston County who are interested in serving in a leadership role that fosters community service.
In order to compete, you must:

Be a resident of Thurston County for at least 6 months, or Be a full time student in Thurston County or work full time in Thurston County (40 hours per week) for at least 6 months.*

Be at least eighteen (18) years of age as of December 31st in the calendar year of the State Competition in which she competes.

Must not be older than twenty-eight (28) years of age as of December 31st of the year of the State Competition in which she competes.

For the avoidance of doubt, Candidate cannot turn twenty-nine (29) years of age at any time during the calendar year in which she could compete at the State Competition. (Calendar Year defined as January 1st through December 31st).

Be a United States citizen.

Be a Female.

Residency - Must fulfill one of the following:

Must reside in the local area of competition

Be enrolled in and physically attending classes on a full-time basis at an accredited college or university in the local area of competition

Be employed on a full-time basis in the local area in which she intends to compete.

Meet character criteria as set forth by the Miss America Organization.

Be in reasonably good health to meet the job requirements.

Be able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities as set forth by the local, state and national competition(s) in which you compete.

Candidates must meet all additional requirements pursuant to the Miss America State and Local Application & Agreement:
A portion of the questions you are asked in the interview phases will be based on your Community Service Initiative (formerly known as a platform). In the Miss America Organization there are five phases of competition:

Private interview (one candidate with the full panel of judges)

Evening Wear
-
On-stage conversation
-
Talent
-
Fitness in Activewear
The candidate selected for the responsibility of serving as Miss Thurston County must be available to serve as the official hostess of Thurston County from October 2023 thru October 2024.
She will also compete in the Miss Washington Scholarship Pageant in June/July 2024 (dates TBA). As the Miss Thurston County Scholarship Program supports education, every effort will be made to accommodate her school schedule.
Beginning September 2023 we will hold a weekly workshop on Sunday afternoons until the Pageant. Location of these workshops is Inspire 2 Move Dance Academy. These workshops are MANDATORY – and they are for your benefit! Workshops are for practicing stage presence, walking patterns, interview practice, and talent rehearsals. We also host a number of speakers for topics like social media, community service platforms, a women’s self-defense class, fitness and nutrition, and more!
The Miss Thurston County Scholarship Program will hold an orientation near the end of August to answer any questions you may have, and cover the details of what is expected from each contestant, from Miss Thurston County, and what you can expect from us!
