NYAH HART
Miss Capital City 2026
I am so excited to be your Miss Capital City! I am a 25 year old dance teacher at the Tacoma Urban Performing Arts Center, a cheer coach at Sonic Elite Olympia, and a freelance choreographer. I have 3 siblings, 1 little sister, Zahné, and 2 older brothers, Rashaantē and Reno. We are very close and love to bond over video games, cartoons, anime, and Dungeons & Dragons.
I have a deep love for the performing arts. I was a competitive dancer for over 16 years and have training in various styles. I also play 2 instruments, sing, and act. Lately, I’ve had the pleasure of performing at the Lakewood Playhouse and am elated to share that I have been a choreographer for some of their programs including an upcoming show for their 87th season.
I have lots of hobbies that I like to indulge in. During the summer, I love to paddleboard with my partner and our dog, Chico. We also enjoy going to festivals around Thurston County and hiking. Once winter hits, I’m a bit more of an indoor person. I love sitting in my living room with a warm drink, a good book, and my cat, Luci.
The Miss Thurston County Scholarship Program has been a huge part of my life. I was a blossom (formerly little sister) when I was about 8 years old and later had the honor of representing Thurston County as an outstanding teen before it was part of the program (2016). After a break I came back to compete in the Miss program and was crowned Miss Thurston County (2024). Being crowned Miss Capital City this year fills my heart. My 2 blossoms are the sweetest. One of my blossoms, Freya, has been paired with me for the past 4 years (including outside of the program) and my other blossom, Eleanor, is the daughter of the woman who was my mentor when I was a blossom. It truly was a full circle moment for me. Both of them and their families are some of my biggest supporters and hanging out with them is such a blast.
My community service initiative is titled Shine As One: Spotlighting Special Olympics. I’ve been a volunteer with Special Olympics for almost a decade now. This is a program that is very close to my heart. My brother was an athlete and inspired me to start my own team. Following an accident that left me with a traumatic brain injury, Special Olympics became my life line for social rehabilitation. Fast forward to the present, I’ve helped in many roles for Special Olympics Cheerleading specifically- choreographer, unified partner, assistant coach, unified leader, and now I am the technical delegate for the entire state of Washington! Outside of Special Olympics, my partner and I run a CheerAbilities team through Sonic Elite Olympia called Stars. We are so excited to be taking these hardworking athletes into their 5th season come summer time.
I am so thankful to be part of the Miss Thurston County Scholarship Program. It’s taught me more about myself, helped me progress in skills I previously thought I lost forever, and given me lifelong friendships. I can’t wait to continue sharing my heart with you all and inspiring others to do what they love!
